ESPN Analyst and Storied NASCAR Leader Joins Boot Campaign
September 29, 2012 (Dover, DE) – Speaking at the Dover International Speedway, ESPN Analyst Ray Evernham announces his intent to raise awareness of the issues facing U.S. troops and support their transition home. Evernham joins Troy Aikman, Kasey Kahne, Dolly Parton, Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson and others in lacing up a pair of combat boots with the Texas-based non-profit organization, The Boot Campaign.

Boot Campaign
The Boot Campaign is a 501c3 non-profit military appreciation and veteran awareness campaign based in Texas. Launched in 2009 by a group of women known as The Boot Girls, the Boot Campaign’s mission is to express gratitude to the troops, spread awareness of the needs of military personnel and support their transition home. Ray Evernham
Ray Evernham is an ESPN Analyst for NASCAR, is the owner of East Lincoln Speedway, a 3/8 mile dirt track in Lincoln County, N.C., and has led a storied carrier in NASCAR. Evernham led Dodge back into NASCAR Cup racing in 2001, claiming the top starting spot for the 2001 Daytona 500 with driver Bill Elliott. Evernham’s first victory as NASCAR team owner came in the 2001 season finale at Homestead, FL with driver Bill Elliott. Evernham is a three-time NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Crew Chief (1995, 1997 & 1998) and was voted Top All-Time Crew Chief by Motorsports Media in 2006. Evernaham’s accomplishments in racing also include being named NASCAR Winston Cup Illustrated Person of the Year (1998), two-time Daytona 500 Champion as crew chief for Jeff Gordon (1997, 1999).
